The Midnight Union Band is currently doing the rounds in the Irish gigging scene, with their heartfelt and energetic live performances soliciting rave reviews throughout the country from fans and reviewers alike. In early 2015, the band released their much anticipated debut album entitled Of Life And Lesser Evils which has received much praise amongst fans and critics. The Midnight Union Band are currently touring the album with many dates set for the future around the country and abroad. Origins of the Union: The musical seeds of The Union were first planted by long time harvesters of sound, Brian, Peter and Cian who had initially played together in an earlier Kilkenny based Alt-Rock band. However they all soon realised that a mere three humans, no matter how talented, could not fully accomplish the scale and dept of sounds they all envisioned for the band. It was recruitment time and senior Unionite Brian McGrath, was ready for the job. One sunny city day, bassist and recruitment guru Brian stumbled across a young, raggedy singer/songwriter who was busking and hustling a lonely Kilkenny alleyway. Brian liked what he heard and, as the story goes, he took the kid off the streets and in a single stroke procured a voice for the band and a home for Shane Joyce. The songs soon began to rain down but Brians' work was not yet finished . With the loss of a previous drummer it was again time for more recruiting. He eventually found gifted young drummer, John Wallace, through literally knocking on doors and the table was finally set for a musical midnight feast. The Music: The Midnight Union Bands' sound may best be described as an unique blend of Americana folk, Rhythm and Roots and Blues nestled with an alt-country twist and a sprinkling of old school rock n' roll. The bands songs range from the most poetic and tender of ballads to full fledged bustling Americana, rock tunes bursting at the seams with energy and rhythm. The Midnight Union Band is currently doing the rounds in the Irish gigging scene, with their heartfelt and energetic live performances soliciting rave reviews throughout the country from fans and bands alike. In September 2013, the band relased their debut E.P. entitled Behind The Truth which has received and praise amongst fans and critics and they have already begun production on their debut album. Watch this space. Description riveting, new, five piece band based in the heart of Kilkenny City, Ireland. With an inventive mixture of musical styles from Americana to Alt-Blues/Rock, thought provoking lyrics in both original and traditional form and immediately accessible melodies, the light of this band is burning bright. Press/Album Reviews: "A stunning debut album by an Irish band with one very bright future indeed" Rod McCance - The Thin Air Magazine "It will require something exceptional between now and the end of the year to surpass Of Life and Lesser Evils as the best Irish album I've reviewed in 2014" - Remy's Music & Film Blog "Fantastic.. A band unafraid of tackling important political and social issues through their music." - Indublin Magazine "9/10 Truly an undiscovered gem." - U&I Music Magazine
