Council Arts Awards & The Anglo Celt. Nix Moon is a 5 piece from Dundalk. The group dabbles with different genres, adding complex rhythms, a range of harmonies and genuine lyrics. They draw influence from aspects of jazz, folk, reggae, disco, progressive rock and traditional music from countries such as Ireland and Turkey. 2015 proved a great year for the band, performing at several festivals, most prestigiously Electric Picnic and Vantastival. Currently the group is recording an EP, due to release in May, which they plan to perform abroad and at many Irish festivals. The band consists of 5 members in incorporating a range of instruments under a variety of different genres. The instrumental variety includes guitar, drums, bass, bouzouki, flute, keyboard, djembe, darbuka, didgeridoo and accordian. The band is heavily influenced by several genres of music. Several members of the band studied music at DKIT . Songs written by the band show elements of folk, rock, jazz, world music, ambient, pop, grunge, hip-hop, progressive, ska and reggae.
