Cavan Arts partner with the Irish Writers Centre 

In 2017 Cavan County Council Arts Office worked with the Irish Writers Centre to address the needs of emerging and more established writers in County Cavan. The year- long workshop programme culminated in a special event hosted at the Writers Centre that included Michael Harding, Philip Doherty and Pat Mc Cabe with offerings from Cavan writers in poetry, prose, shortstory and theatre and a guest appearance by Cavan band The Strypes.

Windows Publications

Heather Brett and Noel Monahan celebrated 25 years of Windows Publications promoting emerging talent and established writers and inspiring and encouraging children. This year they took Cavan writers on an extended reading tour that included Galway, Seamus Heaney’s HomePlace and the Irish Writers Centre with the latest Authors and Artists Introductory Series.

New Publications

Shane Connaughton, novelist and award winning screenwriter launched his latest novel Married Quarters in Hodges Figgis, Dublin and held a Cavan launch with an In Conversation at Townhall, Cavan earlier this year.

Erne Valley the first collection of poetry by Brendan Mc Cann was launched by Noel Monahan in November. Brendan Mc Cann is a highly regarded playwright and the recent recipient of many awards on the international film circuit with the screen play for Volkswagen Joe adapted by his son Kevin Mc Cann.  Erne Valley is the culmination of over 50 years crafting poetry.
