The Listening Rooms Music Trail 2024

• 10 Acts Selected for the Listening Rooms Music Trail Saturday 26th October, Cavan Town
• 1 Act Selected to spend a day recording at Don Mescalls Recording Studio, Belturbet Co. Cavan

“Back in the early acoustic performances in the 60’s in the Greenwich Coffee Houses in New York, such as the Cafe Wha? on McDougal Street and Gerde's Folk City at 11 West 4th Street, singers including Richie Havens, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, and many others played for a few dollars to small crowds who came to listen to new songs. The performer/artist/songwriter then discovered which songs worked for them and thus unfolded the start of their careers…

If you are a singer or musician and want to be heard as part of Drumlinia Music & Media Industry Festival 2024 send us your details via the online application form with 1-2 mp3 recordings of your work. 

An independent adjudication panel will select ten artists who will be included in the Listening Rooms, a music trail in eccentric and kooky venues throughout Cavan town on Saturday 26th October.

Criteria

• All applicants must be over 15 years of age. 

• Applicants must upload at least ONE original song or original piece of music. We will accept a maximum of TWO original songs per application.

• Applicants must be available on Saturday October 26th to perform music live in a chosen venue in Cavan Town for a duration of 20 minutes approx. 

• Successful applicants will be asked to perform three original songs and/or pieces of music in their chosen venue. 

• Performers are allowed one accompaniment musician if essential for their performance.

• We accept all music genres to this competition

Please Note

•If under 18 years of age, an adult/guardian must accompany the applicant for the Listening Rooms on October 26th.

•Applicants are notified approximately two - three weeks after the closing date.

•Support material is essential to each application. 

•Unsuccessful applications will be held on file for a period of 1year.

•Successful applications will be held on file for a period of 5 years.

•Late applications cannot be accepted.

•The assessment and quality of your application will be adjudicated by an independent panel.

Your application will be scored using the following criteria and weighting:

1. Artistic value of original material    (40)

2. Relevant Experience                         (30)

3. Overall quality of the application    (30)
