Drumgoon Hill Old Graveyard committee was set up in 2016 by the local community to clean and maintain the old cemetery. The committee have been working on creative projects since inception these include recording and archiving work from their community. In 2020 as part of Culture Night the groups decided to edit a programme from some of their recordings and ‘Hooley in the House’ was created. This recording of music, singing and storytelling celebrates the spirit of volunteering and community that is alive in Drumgoon, Co Cavan. The programme was a welcome distraction and a way on connecting during a time of Lockdown.
Speaking about the Creative Lives Awards Nomination Roseabbey Mc Gorry from the Committee said “being nominated for the award recognises our excellent volunteers and encourages us to continue working to support our community and enhance life in our area in east Cavan. We have had great support from the Cavan Societies abroad on foot of our nomination.”
