Reframing the Border: Art, Place & Imagination 2025
Peaceplus project

Spanning the storied borderlands of Cavan and Fermanagh, The Border Biennale 2025 is a landmark cross-border arts programme that celebrates place, identity, and creative resilience. Building on its acclaimed inaugural edition in 2023, the Biennale returns with an ambitious mix of visual art, music, and community-led initiatives that invite audiences to experience the border not as a line of division, but as a rich space of connection, memory, and transformation.
From site-specific installations and contemporary classical compositions to charcoal-making, fieldwork, and participatory workshops, the 2025 programme brings together local, national, and international artists in a dynamic exploration of this unique region.
At its heart, the Biennale is rooted in collaboration — among artists, communities, and landscapes. Whether through residencies, public interventions, or exhibition, it activates overlooked spaces and fosters deep creative engagement across cultural and geographic boundaries.
This year’s edition includes a growing partnership with the National Trust Fermanagh Portfolio, including artist-led field trips, a full-day workshop at Florence Court, and new drawings created with natural materials gathered from the estate — hinting at a deepening cross-sectoral collaboration for future editions.
As a platform for ambitious new work, the Border Biennale champions art that is rooted in place and responsive to community, shaping a fresh narrative for the region that is imaginative, inclusive, and forward-looking.
Join us as we reimagine the border through art, not as a barrier, but as a place of possibility.
