Martin says the idea of the St Patrick's weekend festivities was a way of bringing traditional music to as many people as possible: “The Arts Council offered support for concerts under the festival funding programme. We applied with the idea of bringing a variety of Ulster musicians, singers and dancers to Cavan for this wonderful event.
Martin says there's a great delight among members at the chance to celebrate over two decades of the traditional music group: “This is the 23rd year of NYAH. For the last couple of years, the lockdown has curtailed our programme. We didn't get to celebrate as we would have liked to, so this is our chance to make up for that. What better time to celebrate our traditional arts than on and around St Patrick's Day.”
He says the St Patrick's day festivities will also feature a wonderful multicultural event as part of the programme to embrace the changing face of Cavan.
Coordinated with the assistance of the Cavan County Council Arts Office, the programme highlights the seated concert on March 18th in Townhall, Cavan.
