Singer Songwriter Don Mescall together with Cavan Institute and Cavan Arts Office has established Cavan’s first ever music industry festival. A festival that will inform, educate, encourage and provide realistic expectations of what to expect if you are trying to or would like to get into the music industry. This year the festival will run for three consecutive days in October 2023.
Day 1 – Seminar Day led by legendary Music Industry Leaders
First up is an ‘Industry Day’ taking place on Thursday 12th October in the Cavan Institute Campus.
The line up of guest speakers has just been announced and it is definitely a day not to be missed if you are serious about getting into the music industry! It is promising to be a day filled with interesting talks and expertise from music moguls who have experienced the highs and lows in the music world.
Louise O’Reilly will MC on the day and each guest speaker will chat about a topic associated with their expertise and Willie kavanagh will chair a Q&A section before lunch and at the end of the day.

Barbara Galavan - Director at McGuinness Whelan Music, former CEO of Screen Producers
Dave Fanning - Legendary DJ
Angela Dorgan – CEO of First Music Contact (FMC)
Chris Kelly – Marketing Manager, SONY Music Ireland
Lottie Ryan – Podcaster, Irish TV & Radio Presenter (Former Winner of Dancing With The Stars)
John Masterson – Journalist, Broadcaster, Producer & PR Expert
Keith Johnston – Director if Marketing & Membership at IMRO
Alejandro Jara Weitzmann – CEO & Founder of Smart Republic

Day 2 – Music Industry Workshops
Day two of the festival will comprise of various workshops that will be facilitated by renowned musicians who have paved a successful career in the music industry and are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with the lucky participants.

Day 3: ‘The Listening Rooms’ – Saturday 14th October 2023
The final day of the festival is called ‘The Listening Rooms’. A music trail in Cavan town where a selection of venues will host one singer / songwriter for a 20-minute slot. The performers will be chosen by an independent adjudication panel based on their application. One piece of music will be chosen and compiled onto an album with all the performers and available to purchase as a memoir of the first Drumlinia Festival 2023!
One artist will also be provided with an opportunity to record a song at ‘Quivvy Church Studio’ under the guidance of Don Mescall!
