NYAH Special Outreach Festival event in Ramblin' House Main St Cootehill on Tuesday 19th March at which renowned Fermanagh singer Gabriel (Gabie) McArdle will be performing (with Jim McGrath-accordion and Fintan McManus-guitar/bouzouki; both esteemed musicians in their own right).
Gabie, who also specialises in concertina, last year released his debut CD, ‘The Fermanagh Blackbird’ at the tender age of 74 (still younger than Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Rod Stewart etc, it has been noted!), has previously guested on other recordings and numerous TV and radio shows. He has an unmatched voice and is one of my all-time favourites when it comes to folk/trad singers.
Cootehill CCÉ members of all ages will play Support for an hour or so beforehand from 8 pm and then the Gabie show from 9.15 pm then a few more impromptu songs and tunes with Cootehill CCÉ players again to round things off.
MC Michael Mc Donnell.
