The project is supported by DCYA as part of What Works (formerly QCBI), funded by the Dormant Accounts fund
Earlier this year, Cavan County Council Arts office initiated a network of key stakeholders following a well-established commitment to arts and health and young people over a number of years.
The arts office has been awarded network support funding by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs to improve outcomes for children through the “What works well” formerly the Quality and Capacity Building Initiative (QCBI), supported through Dormant Accounts Funding.
The project has two main strands, CPD delivery for the stakeholder group and art projects/workshops with youth and community groups. Currently two live projects are underway facilitated by Colm Mullen and Rosie Cole.
Colm is working with a group of young people through photography and film, the group is called the “CMX film group”. Rosie Cole visual artist has met with her participants from YAP youth advocacy programme. The young people will draw inspiration from nature and explore how the outdoors can support positive mental health in their artwork.
A CPD day including keynote presentation and experiential art workshops will take place at Virginia Show Centre on September 2nd 10.15am. The day is entitled “Context, When Arts Works Well for you”.
