Narrative Storytelling Workshops based on the poetry of Patrick Kavanagh
Aaron Monaghan will provide a series of Master Classes as part of the commitment of Livin Dred Theatre Company to the development of theatre as an art form in County Cavan. Theese will be practical, on the feet masterclasses exploring physical storytelling, devising and script analysis exploring the poetry of Patrick Kavanagh. Participants will have the opportunity to explore various stages of the actors process, devise their own stories and investigate the architecture of poetry using the work of Patrick Kavanagh as a vehicle.
Each masterclass will be followed by a question and answer session.
The groups taking part in these masterclasses include Aisteoirí Mhuincille, POD Ramor Theatre, local theatre enthusiasts and a positive age group.
About Aaron Monaghan
Aaron Monaghan is an award winning actor and director. His introduction to theatre was as a young teenager in Cavan Youth Drama supported by the first Peace Programme. He is most associated with the Druid Theatre and the Abbey. Recently he played the title role as Richard lll as part of the DruidShakespeace which toured extensively to critical acclaim. His film credits include Assasin's Creed and The Foreigner and earlier this year Aaron completed Redemption of a Rogue a film written, directed and shot on location in County Cavan by Philip Doherty.
Aaron Monaghan is a founding member of Livin Dred Theatre Company with Padraic McIntyre and Mary Hanley. Livin Dred is committed to brinigng new and old works that speak to and for audiences locally and nationally. Livin Dred based at Ramor Theatre, Virginia, Co Cavan is committed to the sustainability of the arts in Cavan and is a member of the NOMAD network for touring theatre. In 2020 Aaron Monaghan will direct Tarry Flynn by Patrick Kavanagh.
These masterclasses are funded by Creative Ireland as part of the Creative Ireland Cavan programme 2019.
