Oral Reminiscence

Maura Williamson and Ruth Leonard are currently facilitating an oral reminiscence project in Cavan and Virginia area.

The project funded through Creative Ireland and supported by Cavan Arts Office, focuses on the value of time spent with older people hearing their stories and providing an opportunity for their creativity to be released.

Ruth Leonard is working with residents of St. Joseph’s Nursing home through poetry. The participants listen to music, poetry and reflect on what is brings up for them. Some poems speak of childhood, others about daily life, the participants share their thoughts. As a group the participants are also writing Poetry in response to the theme presented.

Maura is currently meeting with individuals with stories to share from Cavan town, Arva and Killeshandra and the work is at early stages.
