Cavan County Council Arts Office with our partners, Ballyconnell Community Centre Committee, Ballyconnell and District Development Association and local artists and business workers are delighted that our application to the Arts Council for Creative Places was successful.

We received a Research and Development Award of €𝟯𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬.

Our ambition is to engage in collaborative action research over 16 months to understand possibilities for arts participation and sense of place in Ballyconnell.

Through research and socially engaged arts expertise we will root our project in the townscape, story, and the physical environment. This will be decided in consultation with local need and interest.

The population of Ballyconnell is 1,861 an increase from 433 in 1996.The town's industry has attracted new communities since the 1990's creating diversity and challenge for service provision, integration, cultural awareness, and community connection.

There will be a series of action research projects as part of this work.

We are interested to hear from anyone living in the Ballyconnell area who would like to be involved in Creative Places Ballyconnell.
